Taste the History

Watch our short introductory video to discover more about our honey.

The Honeyman Story

Whispers of Stone and Nectar

In the heart of the ancient kingdom of Fib (Fife), where mist clings to the heather-clad hills, lies a legacy as old as time itself. Our story isn't measured in generations, but in the echoes of millennia, a tale of the bond between man and the golden nectar of the land.

For over 2000 years, my ancestors, the 'Honeymen' were the very first known beekeepers, these original beekeepers got their name from Scottish roots, back when no one had a surname, and most people simply adopted their clan name or trade name. ...so if you wanted honey, beeswax or even protection for your livestock you spoke with someone from clan 'Honeyman'.

These ancestors learned the secrets of bees, understanding the delicate dance between flower and hive. By carefully observing our bees, they taught us how to share in nature's bounty. This knowledge, passed down through countless seasons, is the very essence of our honey.

Today, our hives are still nestled amidst the untamed beauty of Scotland, where our bees forage freely on vibrant wildflowers and the hardy blossoms that paint the landscape in a tapestry of colour.

We honour the traditions of our forebears, allowing nature to guide us, ensuring our honey remains pure, unadulterated, and natural.

Each jar of honey is a testament of this ancient connection, a taste of the wild Scottish landscape, captured in its most pristine form. It's the whisper of stone and nectar, a story as enduring as the mountains themselves.

When you taste our honey, you're not just tasting sweetness. You're tasting history, a legacy, a connection to the very origins of beekeeping. You're tasting the pure, heart of Scotland."

Avoid fake honey!

In November 2024, a ground-breaking study by the UK's 'Honey Authenticity Network' revealed that a staggering 24 out of 25 honey samples from major British retailers, including well-known supermarkets, failed rigorous DNA-based authenticity tests. This indicates that much of what is sold as honey may actually be adulterated with cheaper syrups.

Natural, raw honey offers numerous health benefits due to being rich in natural antioxidants, enzymes, and minerals that can boost immunity, possess antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, and even aid in wound healing.

Fake honey, often made with additives like corn syrup, lacks these benefits and can be detrimental to health, potentially causing various health issues.

While real honey crystallizes, fake honey remains liquid. Choosing real honey provides superior taste and health benefits.

Our Bees

Our bees are the most important employees we have, not only do they provide us with our delicious product but they help us humans sustain our food chain and the overall biodiversity of our planet.  Without bees we would lose over a third of all our foods and plants, and would seriously impact food security of the planet. We treat our bees like the superstars they are, we don't expose them to mass farming techniques, and we maintain colony health to the highest of standards and practises, yes the old way is more time consuming and costly, but in our opinion there is no alternative. All of our bees are managed and maintained by us. We are members of the Scottish bee keepers association Sharing and benefiting from this knowledge to help ensure the future of the bee population is assured!

If the bee disappeared off the face of the Earth, man would only have four years left to live.
